Your trusted publisher of Slavic literature and beyond
An independent British-Dutch press, bringing the literature of the East to readers across the world.
Glagoslav Publications is an independent British-Dutch press, founded in 2011 to bring English and Dutch translations of Eastern European and Slavic literature to readers around the world.
The story behind the name
The name Glagoslav joins the roots of two Slavic words: the Glagolitic script, the first Slavic alphabet, and the Slavs themselves. It expresses our mission: not only to bring translations to English- and Dutch-reading audiences, but to share works uniquely Slavic and beyond in nature, and to open a dialogue between East and West.
What we do
Expertise in Slavic and European languages and literature, extensive experience in international publishing, and a deep appreciation of the histories and cultures of both Western and Eastern Europe enable us to offer readers worldwide access to important works that deserve an audience beyond their native lands.
We seek out books from across the region that represent an essential part of our shared cultural, literary, and intellectual heritage, and that promote a better understanding of this intriguing but often misunderstood part of the world.
Every book we publish has already earned an engaged readership in its native land, been recognized by international critics, and in many cases received or been shortlisted for prestigious national and international awards. We have also launched a series of previously untranslated fiction and non-fiction, alongside out-of-print translations that deserve the attention of a new generation of readers.
